Pure Power Mouthguard™ and Pure Power Trainer™
Raleigh, Cary, and Surrounding Areas
Whether you are competitive against others or aspiring to achieve your personal best, you know how important it is to use the right equipment to get the best performance. Tennis shoes give grip on the clay and the proper support without being too heavy. A bike frame made of titanium. A driver that allows you to stand in the proper position, hit the ball straight with a predictable power level and follow-through. All of these can give you points, minutes, or strokes.
And if these are good investments, what about a mouthpiece that reduces stress on your upper spine to promote balance, strength, and good posture? What if this mouthpiece also helped keep your airways so your lungs get the oxygen they need when you are pushing your limits? And what if it kept your body from wasting vital resources clenching your teeth when you need all your energy?
The Pure Power Mouthguard and the Pure Power Trainer (PPM/PPT) are designed using the principles of neuromuscular dentistry. When worn during athletic activities, they reduce some of the negative impacts that malocclusion (bad bite) can have on your performance.
Whether you are into:
- Weightlifting
- Tennis
- Soccer
- Golfing
- Football
- Boxing
- Biking
- Basketball
- Baseball
Or just generally keeping fit with a mixture of activities. Even Dr. Baker’s personal trainer now uses it to increase his performance. the Pure Power Mouthguard or Pure Power Trainer can give you a tangible advantage.
The Science behind the Edge
Neuromuscular dentistry goes beyond just considering the teeth. It looks at the entire system of teeth, bones, muscles, ligaments, tendons, and other soft tissues in the head and neck. Malocclusion is when your teeth don't fit together in an optimal fashion, but its effects go far beyond just the teeth. With malocclusion, your jaw muscles strain to put the jaw into position, so you have your hard and soft tissues constantly fighting against one another. These soft tissues are attached to your spine and are responsible for keeping your airways open, so neuromuscular dental problems can contribute to misalignment of the upper spine and breathing problems, such as snoring and even sleep apnea.
The first step in getting fitted for a PPM/PPT is to alleviate pre-existing muscle tension using the TENS system to massage jaw muscles. Then Dr. Baker uses the Myotronics K-7 Evaluation System to determine the position at which your jaw muscles are at their best resting state. Once your optimal position is determined, your custom-fitted PPM/PPT is designed to promote that position during workouts or competition. You will then experience increased performance and great comfort as the PPM/PPT puts aside your malocclusion problems so your body can focus on the task at hand.
The PPM/PPT Difference
Pure Power Mouthguard and the Pure Power Trainer are different from other mouthguards, which have protection as their only goal. Unfitted mouthguards are barely adequate and can be bad for your teeth. Boil-and-bite mouthguards are not much better: they simply conform to your malocclusion and do nothing to improve the alignment of your jaw while you work out.
Although not technically neuromuscular treatment appliances, Pure Power Mouthguard and the Pure Power Trainer do apply the principles of neuromuscular dentistry to promote performance-enhancing alignment of the jaw during workouts and games. You will feel the difference in performance from the moment you slip it in until you reluctantly take it out. High-performing athletes in Major League Baseball, the NBA, the NFL, as well as top-notch college athletes have all found out the different a bite can make.
